Psichronize Open Beta

The short version

  • This is an open beta. The app is unfinished and will change under you.
  • It costs nothing today, and the daily practice will always have a free tier.
  • Anyone can ask for access. Not everyone gets it yet, and we can withdraw it.
  • Your practice log is append-only. Nothing rewrites it, including you.
  • We keep your name, email and profile picture, and your practice log. Nothing else.
  • Some exercises are done blindfolded. Clear the space and stay seated unless an exercise tells you otherwise.
  • This is a practice, not healthcare. It is not advice, diagnosis or treatment.
  • We do not promise results, and we will never fake a number to suggest otherwise.

The short version is a summary. The sections below are the agreement.

  1. Who you are agreeing with

Psichronize is operated by Psichronize. In these terms, “we”, “us” and “Psichronize” mean that entity, and “you” means the person using the service. “The service” means the Psichronize app at app.psichronize.com, this website, and anything else we offer under the Psichronize name.

  2. Accepting these terms

You agree to these terms when you sign in, request access, or use any part of the service. If you do not agree to them, do not use the service.

If you are using Psichronize on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you may bind that organisation, and these terms apply to it as well as to you.

  3. Psichronize is in beta

This is an open beta. The practice works and your log is real, but the app is unfinished and it will change under you. Exercises will be added, altered and retired. Scoring may be recalculated. Screens will move. Things will break occasionally, and some of them will break on a day you were practising.

Open beta means anyone may ask for access. It does not mean everyone receives it, and it does not mean the service is open source or in the public domain. Access is still granted one person at a time, and the app, its catalogue and its scoring stay ours. The historical sources the practice draws on are a separate matter, and the schools it comes from are described on our home page.

We will not delete your history to make a change easier. The log is append-only partly for that reason. If a scoring change means old runs read differently, we will say so rather than silently restate them.

Because the service is in beta, expect more downtime, more defects and more change than you would from a finished product. If that is not what you want right now, come back later.

  4. Who can use Psichronize

You must be at least 18 years old to use the service, or older if your country sets a higher age for agreeing to contracts online.

You must also be able to form a binding agreement where you live, and you must not be barred from using the service under the laws that apply to you.

This covers supervised use. An adult may not open an account for a child, hand their own account to a child, or put a child in front of a session on their behalf. A log only means something as one person’s record, and a shared account destroys that. If we believe an account is being used by someone under 18, we will withdraw access to it.

If you want to teach this to someone under 18, teach it the way it has always been taught. The schools it comes from are described on our home page, and many of their manuals are free to read.

  5. Access is granted by hand, and can be withdrawn

Psichronize is invite-only while it is young. You request access by signing in with Google. A person at our end reviews the request and decides.

Until a request is granted, an account can see and do nothing in the app beyond a page confirming the request was received. We are not obliged to grant access, to explain a decision, or to grant it within any particular time. Requests may be set aside or archived.

We can suspend or withdraw access at any time, with or without notice, if you break these terms, if we reasonably believe you are about to, or if we need to protect the service or other people using it. We can also withdraw access if we discontinue the service.

  6. Your account

You sign in with Google. You are responsible for keeping that Google account secure, and for everything that happens under your Psichronize account.

One account per person. Do not share your account, and do not let anyone else practise under it. The log is meant to be a record of one person’s practice, and it stops meaning anything if it is not.

Tell us promptly if you believe someone else has used your account.

  7. How you may use the service

Use Psichronize for your own practice. That is what it is for.

Do not do any of the following.

    • Break the law with it, or use it to harm, harass or impersonate anyone.
    • Scrape, crawl, bulk-download or systematically copy the app, its exercises, its target pools or its answer keys.
    • Reverse engineer the app, or try to extract the answer to a trial by any means other than the exercise itself. This spoils the only thing your log is good for.
    • Automate sessions, submit machine-generated calls, or otherwise record practice you did not do.
    • Interfere with the service, probe it for vulnerabilities, or get around any limit or access control.
    • Resell, sublicense or commercially redistribute any part of the service.

If you find a security problem, please tell us rather than exploiting it. We will not pursue anyone who reports a vulnerability to us in good faith and gives us reasonable time to fix it.

  8. Your practice log

Your history is an append-only log. Sessions are added to it and nothing rewrites or edits what is already there. That is a deliberate design decision and it applies to you, to us, and to anyone else. It is what makes a result worth anything later.

Practically, this means there is no way to correct, amend or remove a single run. If a session was logged under conditions you would rather it had not been, the honest move is to leave it there and keep practising.

The app does not have a delete-my-account button, and it does not import practice data from anywhere else. If you want your account and your log removed entirely, email us and we will do it. See what we store.

Logging out of the app erases the local copy on that device. Your log on our servers is unaffected.

  9. What we store, and how to get rid of it

We store your name, your email address and your Google profile picture, plus your practice log and your settings. We do not ask for anything else about you, and we do not buy, sell, rent or trade your data.

You can ask us at any time to delete your account and everything in it. Email help@psichronize.com from the address on the account and we will remove it from live systems within 30 days. Backups age out on their own cycle, and we will not restore deleted data from them.

Deleting your account removes what we hold. It does not remove the permission you gave Google to share your name and email with us. That lives in your Google account, and you can withdraw it yourself under third-party apps with account access. We deliberately do not keep the token that would let us do it on your behalf, because keeping one would mean holding a long-lived key to your Google account.

You can also ask us for a copy of your own data, and we will send it in a machine-readable format.

Depending on where you live, you may have further rights over your personal data. Email us and we will honour them.

  10. Services we rely on

Psichronize is built on services run by other companies. Sign-in uses Google. The database and authentication run on Supabase. The app and this site are served by Cloudflare. Invitation email goes out through Resend.

Those companies have their own terms and privacy policies, and your use of the service means your data passes through them. We pick them carefully and we are responsible for our own choices, but we do not control how they operate.

  11. Practising safely

Read this section even if you skip the rest.

Blindfolded exercises. Later tiers ask you to work with your eyes covered. Clear the space around you first. Stay seated unless an exercise explicitly asks you to move, and if it does, work in a room you know, with nothing underfoot and nothing sharp at head height. Never wear a blindfold near stairs, water, heat, traffic, machinery or anything else that could hurt you. Never do a blindfolded exercise while driving, cycling, or operating anything.

Flashing and changing colour. Parts of the app fill the screen with colour and change it. If you have photosensitive epilepsy, or any condition triggered by flashing or patterned light, do not use the service without talking to your doctor first. Stop immediately and seek medical advice if you feel faint, dizzy or disoriented, or if your vision changes, your eyes or muscles twitch, you lose awareness, or you become confused.

Audio. Some sessions offer a quiet binaural tone. Set the volume low before you put headphones on. If you have a hearing condition, tinnitus, a seizure disorder, a pacemaker, or you are pregnant, talk to your doctor before using the audio, and use the app without it if you prefer.

Stop when you should. Stop if you feel unwell, distressed, disoriented or unusually tired. There is no part of this practice that is worth pushing through for.

You are responsible for your own safety and for the space you practise in. You use the service, and do anything you do as a result of it, at your own risk.

  12. This is not healthcare

Psichronize is a perception and concentration practice. It is not a medical device, and nothing in it is medical, psychological, psychiatric or professional advice. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition.

Do not use it in place of care from a qualified professional, and do not delay seeking care because of something you read or did here. If you are under treatment for a neurological, psychiatric or visual condition, speak to your clinician before starting.

Nothing in the app is a decision-making tool. Do not use a call, a run, a score or a PSI level to make a medical, financial, legal, safety or other consequential decision.

  13. What we do and do not promise

We promise to show you honest numbers. Every figure comes with what a blind guesser would have got on the same run, the bands are never flattered, and we will not fudge, round or reframe a result to make it look better than it was.

We do not promise outcomes. Results vary between people, between weeks and between exercises, and nothing on this site or in the app is a guarantee that you will reach any particular level, score or ability, in any particular time, or at all.

A PSI level, a luck band and a daily score describe what you did inside this app. They are not a qualification, a certification, a credential or a professional standard, and they should not be presented as one.

  14. Our content, and yours

We own the service and everything in it that we made. That includes the app, this site, the exercise and warm-up catalogue, the ladder and tier structure, the scoring, the target pools, the written copy, the design system, the Psichronize name and the mark. We license you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the service for your own practice, and nothing more. The underlying historical sources we draw on are in the public domain or belong to their own authors, and nothing here claims otherwise.

You keep everything you write. Reflection answers and notes are yours. You give us a licence to store, process and display them back to you so the service can work, and nothing beyond that. We do not publish them, sell them or use them for advertising.

If you send us feedback, suggestions or ideas about the service, we may use them freely and without owing you anything. Please do not send us anything confidential.

We may report on aggregate, de-identified patterns across all practitioners, for example how an exercise performs overall. Nothing in that will identify you.

  15. What it costs, now and later

Nothing today. There is no subscription, no payment details, no trial that converts, and nothing to cancel.

That will not hold forever. Servers, domains and email cost money, and at some point Psichronize has to cover them. When it does, there will be something to pay for.

There will always be a free tier, and the daily practice is what stays in it. The session, the warm-ups, the exercises, the ladder, your log and every figure with chance beside it stay free. We will not move the practice itself behind a payment, and we will not retroactively charge for practice you have already done.

We will give you notice before anything starts costing money, and we will never take payment details without asking you for them first. If we ever cannot keep the free tier, we will say so plainly rather than change what free means without telling you.

  16. Changes to the service and to these terms

Change is the normal state of a beta, and Psichronize is in beta. Exercises, tiers, scoring and features will change, and some will be retired.

We may update these terms. If a change matters, we will say so in the app or by email before it takes effect, and we will move the date at the top of this page. Carrying on using the service after a change means you accept it. If you do not, stop using the service and ask us to delete your account.

  17. Ending it

You can stop using Psichronize whenever you like, and you can ask us to delete your account at any time under what we store.

We can end your access as described in how access works. If we end it because we are shutting the service down, we will give you reasonable notice and a way to take your log with you.

The sections on intellectual property, disclaimers, liability, indemnity and governing law survive the end of this agreement.

  18. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, TIMELY, SECURE OR ERROR-FREE, THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED, THAT YOUR DATA WILL NEVER BE LOST, OR THAT THE SERVICE WILL PRODUCE ANY PARTICULAR RESULT.

Some places do not allow these exclusions. Where that is true, this section applies to you only as far as the law allows, and nothing here affects rights you have that cannot be waived.

  19. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS ($100).

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited under the law that applies to you.

  20. Indemnity

You agree to cover us against claims, losses and reasonable legal costs arising from your use of the service, your breach of these terms, or your violation of someone else’s rights. We will tell you promptly about any such claim and let you take part in defending it.

  21. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, in the United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in the State of Washington, and you and we agree to their jurisdiction.

If you live somewhere whose consumer law gives you the right to bring a claim locally, this section does not take that right away.

Before filing anything, please email us. Most things are faster to fix that way, and we would rather fix them.

  22. The usual general terms

If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest stays in force. If we do not enforce something straight away, we have not given up the right to enforce it later. You may not transfer your rights under these terms to anyone else. We may transfer ours if the service changes hands, and we will tell you if that happens. These terms, together with anything they link to, are the whole agreement between you and us about the service.

  23. Talk to us

Questions about these terms, a request to delete your account, a security report, or anything else: help@psichronize.com. A person reads it.
